Tip: Cast Iron Waffle Iron Cleaning

Here's a terrific kitchen cleaning tip if you are thinking about buying a waffle iron. If you get a cast iron on a waffle ironm you must season it to make sure it is non-stick. First, coat the cast iron with oil or lard and bake the waffle iron in a slow cooking temperature oven. Don't clean the waffle iron with soap or dish washing detergent, only wipe the waffle iron clean after each use, since after seasoning nothing should stick. If you do need to use a cleanser, use salt which will help you remove any waffle residue without removing the seasoning!
